Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Rubric Maker (“we”, “us”, “our”), operated by Minh Phan as a sole trader based in Australia, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use rubric-maker.app (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

Rubric Maker is a tool for teachers and educators. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Information we collect

• Account information — when you create an account, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your name and email. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from that provider.
• Rubrics you create — the rubrics you build and save to your account.
• Payment information — if you subscribe to Pro, payments are processed by Stripe (via Clerk Billing). We do not receive or store your full card details.
• Usage analytics — we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) that collect aggregated, non-identifying usage data.
• Locally stored data — if you use the Service without an account, your rubrics are stored only in your browser and are not sent to us.

How we use your information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
• To save and sync your rubrics across your devices;
• To process Pro subscriptions and payments;
• To send essential service communications (for example, sign-in and account emails);
• To keep the Service secure and prevent misuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

AI rubric generation

If you use the AI generation feature, the text you provide (such as an assignment description) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to generate a rubric. This input is processed to return your result and is not used to train AI models. Please do not enter confidential personal information about students or others into the AI feature.

Service providers

We share information with trusted providers only as needed to operate the Service:

• Clerk — authentication and account management;
• Stripe — payment processing;
• Microsoft Azure — hosting and data storage;
• Vercel — hosting and analytics;
• Anthropic — AI rubric generation;
• Google / Microsoft — only if you choose to sign in with them.

Each provider handles your information under its own privacy policy.

Cookies

We use only the essential cookies required for sign-in and sessions (set by Clerk). Our analytics are cookieless. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Microsoft Azure infrastructure. We take reasonable steps to protect it, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your rubrics at any time, and you may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@rubric-maker.app.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles (and, where applicable, laws such as the GDPR and CCPA), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To make a request, contact us at support@rubric-maker.app.

International users

We are based in Australia, and our providers may process data in Australia, the United States, and other countries. By using the Service, you consent to this processing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
